Probably it's time for a tune-up.it could be that the distributer cap is getting humid everytime it rains and this causes the car to misfire which in turn makes it hard to start.you might as well give it a full tune-up to avoid any other problems in the future.i hope this information helps.take care and good luck, manny

What causes CEL to flash for 1/2 mile and then go off and then not start at all after rain but start when dry?

The check engine light flashes when there is a catalytic convert damaging advent happening , like for a sever misfire . When a vehicle has a misfire problem no combustion happens in that cylinder dumping raw fuel into the catalytic convert , were it burns causing the substrate to melt . To buy a new converter could cost up to a $1,000.00 bucks ! You don't say what make ,model an year vehicle you have , so I can't say what could be wrong ! Plug wires , coil's , distributor cap if yours has one . If you have it check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes , You probably have a P0300 random misfire or a P0301 - to P0308 depending on the number of cylinders Check Engine Light On

08 town and country backup camera not working...

Since the trouble happened in heavy rain conditions I would suspect water induced conductivity in the wiring to and from the backup camera.
You will need to
1..get a shop manual for the car which details the location of the cable, plugs etc. to and from the camera.
2. Since the camera is located in the rear of the car I would look in the area where water spray from the highway may splatter into the wiring harness and ground connections to the camera.
3. I haven't done one of your year model yet so I can't tell you the exact location of the pieces.
4. Check with your local service manager for the brand and see if there is some news on troubles with this module in other cars
Good luck. It was the moisture and unsealed connections that broke it.

1994 3.0 Merc. Sable (153K miles). Intermittent no start (cranks, but won't turn over). When it does start, it sometimes runs rough until it warms up. The problem first started in the summer time a couple...

This could be fuel not reaching the injectors. Check for a clogged fuel filter or fuel lines. Dirty or clogged fuel injectors. Also difficulty starting after rain can be caused from old plug wires. I hope this helps.

The engine kills when it's wet outside (raining or just rained)

It is likely that your front oxygen sensor is getting wet.

Car is not starting when damp

Lincoln town cars are famous for this because the rear opening to the hood has been placed right over your distributor so; the rainwater just soaks your distributor. to fix this permanently get a piece of oil roofing paper cut it about 6' wide and glue it over the gap from under the hood this will keep your distributor dry

1993 Honda Civic will not start when it rains.

i would suspect coil trouble either the top of the coil is cracked or water is getting on to or into high tention wire leading from your coil to your distributor.hint ;on a damp night lift you bonnet start your car and look but do not touch at all high tention wires if there is a high tention problem you will see a blue ark jumping about if so there is your problem.adrian

1991 nissan maxima/ only occasionally during cold will not start

If it happens only when it rains it means that water or moisture is getting under the distributor. The distributor needs to be replaced. Good Luck. Let me know how it turns out.
