About to purchase a 1997 Continental. What to look out for?

About to purchase a 1997 Continental. Good price and seems to be in good condition. Can someone tell me what the inherent problems are for this car, just so I'm informed. What type of things should I really scrutinize before laying out the cash?

Great dependable car but you should take it to a shop the specializes in electrical and have them check it from front to back

I purchased a 1997 continental. Rides great, looks great, 8 cylinder is not a gas saver, car was over engerineered. Lots of computers and sensors. Most of the problems I have seen on this page occured with my car, often more than or problem at the same time. It is true, once electrical problems start, your problems REALLY start !

usually the turn signal flasher is located under the dash near the steering column where you'll hear an audible clicking when operational.

I have a 1997 Lincoln continental . Was parked for several days and would not start afterwards. It has always been good but seems to lack spark - fuel pump seems fine

If its been more than 75000 since your last tune up I would get one. Plugs and wires do not last over that amount of miles causing the engine to run very bad or just won't start

I have a 1997 Lincoln continental that has only started once in several days.It started after not running for a week - then quit after I ran it a short while and shut it off. It will not restart . Fuel...

First try pouring some gas down the throttle body. If it starts you may have a problem with your fuel system possibly a bad fuel pump. If it does not start you might have a prom with your ignition system. So check for spark. Also since you said it uses more fuel lately, you might have a broken diaphragm in your fuel regulator causing the engine to flood out. Disconnect the vacuum to the fuel fuel regulator to check for this. Good luck.

Will crank but won't start. started fine yesterday.

See fuel pump condition. It is located in the fuel tank and can be reached by removing the back seat.

Good luck.
