Question about 1986 Mercury Grand Marquis
If the calipers are locking up then the master cylinder may not be working correctly. Check the main vacuum line to the Master Cylinder and see if releasing the bleed valves on the calipers will release the brakes. If you release the calipers by bleeding while the engine is off and then they lockup when the vehicle is started then you have a master cylinder problem.
