It takes a computer program only the dealer has. There are several on the market though that work about 80% of the time. You would have to search the internet for them though.

Does an exact fit used ECU need to be reprogrammed on my 1998 s70 volvo

You can try a Hard Reboot, remove the battery cables from the battery, wait 20 minutes then make contact with the + an - cables together for at least 10 seconds. Normally you would want to run a diagnostic on the new computer if it cam out of another car just to erase the codes from the other car.

How long does it take to fully discharge power to trucks pcm after battery is disconnected to reprogram computer

hi the ECU as we call it here in the uk does not need reprogramming at all this module ie PCM has a pre programed chip in it and will not loose any of its data, the only thing that will need reprogramming will be the key if the battery for this is taken out for more than 3 minutes it will need setting up on the vehicle again but the ECU will be fine. hope this helps and i have understood the question correctly
ps just checked and it is the same as our ECU..

Replaced the ecm computer on 2001 dodge durango then start it up and it runs and then cuts itself off after 15 seconds

The ECU would have to be programmed from the dealer. It normally costs somewhere around $100 to have it reprogrammed. The reason it needs reprogrammed is because the factory theft module in your car is different than the theft module in the car that the "new" ECU came from. I had this problem with my 1997 Cadillac Deville.

All you would have to do is get it to a Dodge dealership and have them reprogram the ECU. Make sure you explain that you just replaced the ECU, and you need it reprogrammed to match your SUV.

Please vote on my solution whether good or bad. Thanks! :D

Cost depends on what options are in the vehicle and what the shop charges for labor rate. If you change one or both of those items it WILL need to go to the dealer for reprogramming

Peugeot 307 model 2005 its speed does not exeed 140 km / hour why ?

depends on your model and engine. mine does on empty motorway max. 150 km/h and on hill/slop upwards 120km/h. If you let reprogram your ecu for performance may be you'll gain more speed (google it for ecu reprogramming and you'll find more infos).
