I located the source of the noise. It is a unit right under the glove box. Don't know what it is though. Any idea?

It's a loose belt. Unfortunately this is a common recurring problem in Chrysler and Dodge cars and trucks made between 2000 and 2007. It has something to do with the alignment of the belts. All you can do is tighten them up a little to try and get it to go away.

    Where is this belt located?

  • James Young Jul 11, 2010

There are two to 3 belts in your engine compartment. They all attach to the harmonic balancer. One should go to the AC compressor and possibly around the water pump or alternator. This assumes that you don't have a Serpentine belt which runs everything. If this is the case then most likely it is time to replace the belt. If you need assistance in doing this or making the adjustments on these belts I recommend you get the Haynes Repair Manual on your vehicle. They were not kind when they designed these and tended to change the location of adjusters and methods by year and model type.

Based on your description we all assumed it was a sound in the engine compartment. If it is coming from under the dashboard that is your blower motor and a squeaking sound from there is an indicator the bearings are going out on your blower motor. Replace the motor and the sound should go away. Motors cost anywhere from $40 to $140 depending on who you get it from. You should get a Haynes Repair manual on your vehicle to get the instructions for removing and installing the motor in teh easiest fashion.

My 2005 trailblazer makes a bird chirping noise. Exactly like birds. My mechanic replaced the belt but it is still making the noise.

If is a serpentine belt, take it out and check the belt tensioner. some of them have a screw that allows for tightening/loosing the belt. Sometimes it looses some bearings and it could chirp.

Have you checked the engine bay for a bird's nest ? LOL
Seriously now, I think it is one or more of your drive belts, just when starting to turn all your engine bits. Have those tightened or replaced as needed and you should be OK.

I have a 2005 Honda Element. automatic. Lately I hear an almost bird type audio sound.. Chirping or tea kettle type sound. Both are very low in volume. I turned off radio and ventalaition fan. Turned

The only chirping sound I know of for sure, is when the distributor bearings are on the way out. You can eliminate this as a possiblity by startng the car, open the hood and satand in front of the vehicle. Distrbutor would be obvious.

Chirping heater in 99 Buick Century

I've never heard of a core making that noise. And the only reason to replace a core is if it is leaking or plugged up. Chirping wouldn't happen in either of those circumstances. It is probably the fan, although something caught inside the fan blades might also be making the noise. You are lucky that the heater fan is much easier and simpler to pull off. You should do that and see if there was something causing the chirping

Birds in the trunk, only when its been raining.

Haynes auto manual will have all the info you need. The chirping sound might also be the belt tensioner, replace them both at the same time.

Chirping birds and screaching sound

Check to be sure there is the correct amount of preload on the front wheel bearings. Too loose or too tight will give you strange noises. Also, you may have a calibur hanging up or retracting too slowly. It causes the brake pad to stay in "Light" contact with the rotor and cause noises too. This could be an intermitten problem.

Good Luck
