What you said tells me nothing. What one person considers typical, someone else does not. It sounds like you have a partially obstructed radiator (external or internal), causing heat transfer to be marginal while driving but sufficient to work at idle. This can be determined by using a heat sensing "gun" but sometimes that won't work if the obstructions aren't grouped together. Flushing sometimes helps but often the "over the counter" flush chems are not strong enough and simply clean up the passageways that are already flowing and go around the ones that are not.
A partially opening thermostat can do this as well. You said you checked "typical" problems but did you replace that?
Additionally, have you had the cooling system checked for hydrocarbons? A developing head gasket leak can give similar problems
if it hasn't yet entirely failed.
Based on the fact that it happens while under way, I'd consider having the radiator professionally flushed or change it altogether. Once an engine overheats the thermostat becomes unreliable so regardless, replace that as well. You should check fan operation but unless you are in traffic, you can actually run without a fan at highway speeds and not overheat.
Overheating is caused by few possibilities .All needs to be checked inspected.I recommend you few help links to troubleshoot the issue.Click the link below:---
