Question about 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

1 Answer

Fuel when kicking the tranny down after a corner or on a hill, the engine will sputter and shut down. After 30sec it will try to fire, and after 1min it starts and run good for an hour or two and then the problem repeats.

Since this seems like a fuel shortage problem amplified by slosh, it could also be the purge valve after the charcoal canister, that is supposed to let air in and out of the gas tank. Open the gas cap and listen for a "whoosh" when it is happening. There is not supposed to be any pressure difference.

Need help with this Lexus and how to set the Kick down on the trans ?

Kick down is a cable. Look at the throttle body. This is usually where the cable breaks. Small plastic clip that hangs on a post.

When u push on the gas it spits and sputters, it ran out of gas like 2 weeks ago and yes sometimes i do let it run low on gas. It spits and sputters when i turn a corner or go up a hill

Could be a clogged fuel filter, and or dirty fuel injectors. Try running some strong injector cleaner through it. It may take 2 or 3 times before it cleans the injectors out fully.

Car died and wont start

The fuel injector motor or called the Idle Air control module is not the failure. The fuel pump is overheating and dies out. Thus when letting sit a while the engine is starting up again.
I woult take vehicle to local shop and have them replace the fuel pump , I suggest not getting taken for a complete tune up. Just the fuel pump is the most cost effective way .

This can be Caused by Both the Fuel Pump and the Fuel Filter. If you have not Changed the Fuel Filter in a While, Try that First and see if it Helps Before going to the Fuel Pump. It is Easier and Cheaper that the Fuel Pump to Replace. Please Rate my Response, I need all the Help That I can Get! Thanks!

Check engine light is frequently a loose fuel cap, but the other problem could be a bad fuel pump, or a clogged fuel filter. Try the fuel filter first - its the cheapest.
