15 minute (ish) job depending what condition the original is in. You need a spanner and socket to undo the one bolt. A hacksaw blade is required to cut the old one out and a jack to support the engine - support not lift or you'll damage the other mounts. Finanlly, last but no means least...brut strength trying to put the new one in.

The top engine stabliser bar isn't load carrying so you can get away without supporting the engine. It's pretty straight forward to do:
You will need use a WD40, long bolt and two huge washers to gradually work the bush back into position. Other details can find in (free register).

To buy, try these

Hope helps.

Hi - Can someone tell me how to replace the upper strut mount bushings myself for a 2004 Volvo XC90.

Unless you have a good quality spring compressor, I wouldn't advise this job on your own. You can get severly injured without the correct equipment. If you still want to try it, let me know, and I will send you step by step instructions.

I have xc90 d5 there is warning message came of engine system service required with power loss how to solve

This is probably due to a problem with the swirl flap actuator arm - if you remove the top of the engine cover (the plastic bit) and look at the top, left front of the engine, do you see a plastic arm (approx 70 - 100 mm long) disconnected?

2004 volvo xc90 rough idle at stop .... has 129k miles..just replaced all spark plugs with platnium.

If the idle problem occurred after replacing the plugs, double check your work. Make sure you installed the coils correctly and that you didn't pinch the coil wiring under the top engine cover. I would also be wary of anything other than the OEM plugs. I've seen too many issues from using aftermarket plugs on these engines.
