Replacing the alternator and removing the belt and tensioner may have caused a problem with the a/c compressor and bearings , when you replaced the alternator did you replace the belt and tensioner if so it may have added enough pressue on the a/c bearings to cause the problem , if you didn't replace them it the a/c clutch bearing may be bad
