You are now in Limp Mode - the gearbox is kept this way to allow you to drive the car to a repair shop. Nothing more you can do, a part failed in the gearbox and it must be replaced - dismantling of the gearbox is mandatory.

57 plate sorento seems to have a gearbox or axle fault. In 2nd 3rd and 4th it feels like there is a tooth missing it feels like going over a drain in the wet gets worse when towing any ideas.

Does it change frequency when in different gears?
If you're going the same speed, does it happen at the same timing regardless of what gear you are in?
Does it happen with every revolution of the tires, or at some other rate? Every revolution of the tires would point to a CV joint or the differential.

My 2002 Audi Allroad is stuck in 3rd gear, how can I get it out?

Remove gearbox and strip it down to replace the damaged parts if it is an internal fault or get under the gearbox and look at the selector rods for binding or damage if it is a manual box
Or take it to a garage to get the work done if an auto box

Gears stuck

Unlees you have had a loss of gear oil this is unusual.
I would first remove the linkage on the gearbox and see i i could manually move the shifter. Obviously, if i could, then the fault is in the shift rods or lever.
If the gear shift on the bix is jammed, the box will gave to come out for strip down and inspect or get another gearbox.
Cheers

Code p0795 gearbox fault message on dash and stuck in 3rd gear , Will not go into O/D after being driven 5 +miles / 10 minutes .

Hello i can assist you your your fault code you have supplied indicates your pressure control solenoid "C" is malfunctioning this will cause your transmission not to shift properly and will stay stuck in separate gears including 3rd gear.I recommend taking your vehicle into a transmission specialist for proper repair and transmission service this is a delicate job if you have not performed such transmission repairs. You should not be operating your vehicle with this control solenoid malfunctioning.

Transmission problems: car is stuck in 3rd gear. do you think its the transmission fluid?

Hi the reason it is stuck in 3rd gear, is because there is an gearbox problem and it does this as a saftey precaution, my advise is to check the gearbox oil 1st also you can check the gearbox ecu to see if there are any faults logged, you may find that the valve chest might be faulty, inside the gearbox, hope this helps

Mercedes c class with tiptonic gearbox. It seems to have got stuck in a low gear when I slowed down for a roundabout. When I accelerated to 50/60 mph, the rev counter was way too high and no auto gear...

It seems oil level is low in your gearbox, and it most likely leaking from adapter bushing ( where cable is connected to gearbox).
You need to replace seals or complete bushing and correct oil level.
Better if you visit your mechanic.

After a jump start because of no electrical power, the car will run rough for several days (expected) while it adjusts to your driving habits. I'm not sure about the gears, but I'd try to drive with it like that for a few days and see if it returns to normal.
