I would to know if a bad transmission speed sensor can cause the car to jerk when you shift into drive or reverse

Hard to tell without knowing what year, make, and model of vehicle we are working on here. A speed sensor would not cause this, but bad engine or trans mounts could, or possibly a sticking valve body in the transmission.

Transmission

I had that problem with a VW also.
Turned out to be a combination of the motor mounts and the transmission shifting adjustment.
I also had an awful time finding someone who could fix it.
I had to find a VW expert, took me many weeks.
One way to tell if it is the transmission is to unhook all the shifting linkage from the transmission, and shift the gears by hand by moving the shifting lever on the side or top of the transmission.
You would need to have the car up in the air with all the wheels off the ground to do this.
If it works fine up in the air, it is your linkage.
Be blessed.

My 2003 accord jerks when you want to suddenly accelerate

So, when you punch the gas, the transmission shifts gears, and jerks when shifting? If it's a rough shift, first check your transmission fluid for proper level and condition. It should be a good pink color. Dark brown or dirty fluid with a stinky burnt odor is an indication your fluid needs draining and replacing. Actually, most manufacturers recommend replacing fluid and transmission filter every 2 years, or about every 60,000 miles, for longer life of the transmission.
I hope this helps your problem. Good luck.

My 05 mustang jerks at low speed. sometimes jerks into R

I recommend changing the transmission fluid. When it becomes old, shifting can become sluggish. Some auto shops will just replace the whole transmission, which is a very expensive fix for a small problem.

Transmission jerks on 1985 Crown Vic when cold. Doesn't want to shift, and transmission jerks violently when cold. Also, automatic transmission doesn't like to shift into 3rd gear, unless you exceed 45...

Unless you are low on fluid, I suspect you are in need of a rebuild. I have had similar problems before. Any shop will tell you to try a fluid and filter change. It has never brought one of mine back. I would suggest adding fluid to the top of the 'add fluid' area of the dipstick and no more. It can foam if it is to full, causing similar problems as being to low. I would add that if you have to replace the transmission - you need to consider that the car may not be worth the cost.
Good Luck.

99 dodge ram that jerks between 40 and 50 mph

Bring it back to the transmission shop and have them test drive it with the scanner to see if the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) needs to be replaced. A worn TPS will case the transmission to have shifting problems, the TPE sends voltage signals to the PCM and will control the transmission shift points and firmness. If the TPS has a flat spot and the voltage is down at the point where the transmission needs to shift, there may be a conflict of shift program and needs to be addressed. Good luck and keep me posted.

TRANSMISSION PROBLEM

Check your trans fuild on drivers side of trans should be a plug that you unscrew to check the level if its full.

Step 2

Sound like the torque conveter is locking up. Your looking at a costly repair. These cars have so many problems that VW won't recall none of them. So I think you should trade it in for an American product. Good Luck

97 VW Jetta automatic trans not shifting without lifting off gas

The tranny's are notorious for having "small" problems before they actually let go. However, there is a sensor on the transmission that tells it when to shift as well as a couple of air and cooling sensors. Try having those tested/changed and see if that helps. If not, you may be looking at a new transmission
