What do you mean "Not all of them are the same?"

Which plugs are different. Did you get the trans from another 1998. If the plug for the valve body is different the transmission isn't going to fit in your car. The plugs for the input and output shaft speed sensors and the shift solenoid pack should be the same.

I might have a pic of the trans and sensors i can post if you need me to.

On a 1998 Chrysler Cirrus does the transmission have to be removed for the front seal to be replaced?

No, that would be for the rear crankshaft main seal, if it had to be replaced. The front crankshaft seal will be behind the front crankshaft pulley, usually in the timing belt cover.

Why won't my 1998 chrysler cirrus shift into gear?

I'm not familiar with YOUR Chrysler, BUT... my brother' father-in-law had a Buick [about 1998 model] that would NOT shift into any gear UNLESS the brake pedal was FULLY DEPRESSED!!!!!

I could move the shift lever into any of the indicator positions, but the transmission would not engage if my foot was not firmly on the brake pedal while selecting a gear position!

What would warrant dist replacement on 98 cirrus

The distributors on the V-6 2.5 liter is a known common issue. What they typically do is loose spark. The distributor contains various sensors as well as the ignition coils. Replacement of the distributor usually resolves a no spark issue.

ABS light on a 1998 chrysler cirrus comes on only after the doors lock when driving down the street, why?

This is the short story. The transmission sends a signal to the ECM that sends a signal to the BCM (This is what locks the doors) The ECM also sends that signal to the ABS. When the ABS doesn't sense a signal from the wheel sensors, the ABS light comes on. Have the codes checked. Let me know. Randy
