Is this a used transmission? if so make sure the fluid is red and the fluid doesnt smell burnt. remove the transmission pan and see if there is any metal in the pan before installing a used transmission.

On a 1998 Chrysler Cirrus does the transmission have to be removed for the front seal to be replaced?

No, that would be for the rear crankshaft main seal, if it had to be replaced. The front crankshaft seal will be behind the front crankshaft pulley, usually in the timing belt cover.

Why won't my 1998 chrysler cirrus shift into gear?

I'm not familiar with YOUR Chrysler, BUT... my brother' father-in-law had a Buick [about 1998 model] that would NOT shift into any gear UNLESS the brake pedal was FULLY DEPRESSED!!!!!

I could move the shift lever into any of the indicator positions, but the transmission would not engage if my foot was not firmly on the brake pedal while selecting a gear position!

Windshield wipers do not work 1998 Chrysler Cirrus. All relays and fuses checked. Multifunction switch and wiper motor replaced. Does body control module control this and where is it located

Try running a ground wire from the metal body of wiper motor to ground on battery negative "-".
Chrysler has a bad habit of losing ground to wiper motor.

ABS light on

I have the same problem. If you look at either wheel there should be like a gear. If basically pops off. However you cannot put it back on. You have to buy a new piece. You have to replace the whole drive axel if it is on your drivers side. I am not sure what happens if it is your passenger side. You have to replace all the transmission fluid. Buy a book. It helps a lot.

Need to locate the dozen or so plastic fasteners and just rip them out. probably want to re-shape them or get new ones. They are little plastic pieces that snap in.
