Check for a main fuse, under the hood in the fuse /relay box.clean the cable ends, and the battery post, look for a fusible link, that maybe burned into,it will be at the end of the positive cable.

What is wrong when you turn the key to start and the radio and all the instruments turn on but the starter doesn't click and the engine doesn't turn on even after trying to jump start it

Dead battery

Dangerous practice to try & jump a dead battery

The battery cables could be loose at either end or corroded internally

Most likely the battery is worn out, if original to car
since it was new, or the starter solenoid is worn

You do not want to jump any vehicle made after the
year 2000 or your asking for possible problems with
todays electronics.

You need a good battery that has been tested & fully
charged, then only jump with a jump pack, not another car

I have a 1996 Dodge grand Caravan 3.3L 6 clyder and i put a new fuel pump in it and it was starting with a little jumping when it runs. i let it sit over night til about 6 in the morning and about to go to...

It sounds like a starter to me, the starter does funny things, it will get to the point when even jumping it like you did wont work anymore, there is a dead spot in it, even jumping the van will make it start sometimes, this is a bad starter,Make sure your battery connections are clean and tight and connections on the starter are the same clean and tight and if so then replace the starter.i have had them removed and tested and the would run and test good but were bad, good day.

Most likely the battery. Most auto parts stores will check it for free with the hopes that you will buy your replacement from them.

Could be your alternator. If you can get it started again. Try to have the alternator checked out.

Electrical - vehicle will not start

It sounds like you have a bad battery. Some times when the battery is bad and you try to jump the car you need to let it charge for 10 or 15 minuets before you try to start it. Or better yet take the battery out and have it charged and tested. I'm betting the battery is toast.

Two days ago my 2001 Yukon would not start; it would only make a clicking noise when I turned the key. I was able to start it by jumping it. I drove it for an hour and when I turned it off it went dead...

It sounds as if your alternator may have gone out. If you take the Yukon by an autoparts shop (Checker, Autozone, etc.), they can run a quick charging system test for you. Good luck!
