The best recommendation I can offer is to get the Haynes repair manual for your vehicle. There isn't enough space here to outline all the steps and procedures. The manual will have detailed instructions and a listing of any special tools you may need.

I just installed an new TPS and IAC on my 96 grand prix with a 3.1. Now when i put everything back together it cranks with no fire. I checked to make sure that everything was plugged in correctly but still...

the tps has to be adjusted properly, and the only way do do it is with a scanner, also i think you have to reset the computer, which also, i think needs to be done with a scanner...youll probrably have to take it to a shop for this.

I have only been averaging 17 or 18 miles per gallon on my 1999 grand prix gt. what might be the problom? I used to average 24.

Bad vacuum line or your OD in your transmission is not working. Inspect all your vacuum lines and TPS Throttle position sensor), also try cleaning your MAF sensor with MAF cleaner, just follow the instructions on the spray can. Cleaning the throttle body will also help on your engine's ability to be more efficient.

Start with the simple and check the vacuum lines, TPS, and make sure your tire pressure are all at 32 PSI.

Thank you for using Fixya and good luck
