Which direction do you turn the petcock to release the radiator fluid.? I tried this once and it broke off - very expensive! So when you're UPSIDE DOWN, LOOKING UPat the radiator - which direction

Doesn't matter if you're looking up at the petcock or down at it, it turns counterclockwise. You have to visualize looking straight on to the petcock as it fits into the radiator, and rotate the petcock counterclockwise relative to the stationary radiator.

1997 Chrysler LHS is overheating

If when you replaced coolant you noticed taht it fills slowly, the radiator could be internally blocked. Usually it can be flushed or if really bad, replace it. Also have the radiator checked for hydrocarbons...any in there tells you that there is a head gasket problem.

Did you try to turn it clockwise if you were looking from the side of the petcock or counter clockwise?
I believe that it needs to be turn clockwise and you can use pliers to make it easier. Hope I helped. If I can help more just let us know thankyou for asking.
