Hello! Can you expand a bit on the problem...If you let it idle will it die? And is it consistently 30 minutes? send a comment with any and all symptoms...And I'll get to work on your vehicle...

it idles good but after about 30 minutes it just shuts off no sparks from the coil yet the coil has 12v on it when the key is in the on position. ran just fine until we changed the battery out. do we need to have the computor reset by the dealership.

Hello! One of three reasons for fault...#1...(this shocked me)...If your gas tank is at or near 1/4 tank...the vehicle may shut down...Dangerous indeed..Fill the gas tank and see if problem is fixed...Then take the car to a dealer ship and have them run diagnostics to isolate this fault...The electronics on your vehicle require special devices to isolate problems...# 2...Volkswagen Technical Service Bulletin # 02-02...Was issued to solve the following problem...There is an immobilizer installed in your vehicle...Anti-theft device...Each engine has a 7 digit "pin" number that needs to be input via a VAS 5051 or 5052 diagnostic device by the dealership...Acquiring the code, if you do not have it, is done by the dealer ship...This process resets the immobilizer...Lastly...# 3...If the key was in the ignition when the battery was removed, it may have initiated the fault...I know this sounds odd but is true...You more than likely do not remember if such is the case...

The bottom line is this; Fill the tank...Is trouble cleared?...If so, take the vehicle to the dealer...Address the Technical Service Bulletin # 02-02 and have immobilizer reset...

Merely changing the battery in the vehicle, does not require a special procedure...If you change the battery in the key "fob" it does...Eliminating the gas tank level from the equation leads me to believe that the TSB is the solution............Keep me posted

The best way to replace thermostat housing on vw golf 2000

Pull apart the hose and housing. Put the housing on, and tighten down. Then reinstall and tighten the hose onto the housing. The housing should be free of all encumbrances when putting it on, so you get a good leak-free seal between the housing and the engine block.

Where is the thermostat in my 2001 golf 1.8 turbo?

The thermostat is normally located on the cooling system of the vehicle..You need to look for the wiring that connects to the fan and work your way back until you reach the thermostat..If unplugged the fan will run constantly the minute you put ignition on.

I have to take off the thermostat on my vw 2000 golf.

can say the 2003 APK 2.0L engines thermostat is located almost vertically behind the alternator, for the job you'll need sockets 10mm and the elbow joint extension for the lower bolt on the thermostat housing. the jobs a little fiddly but made easy with the elbow joint.
care is to be taken when retentioning the plastic thermo housing as it easly breaks and a replacement isnt cheap So just use common sense when re-tightening
others report using the TDI thermostat as its cheaper
