Freon level good but ac compressor wont stay on

To begin with I checked the freon level and its good, I have a 2001 chrysler 2.7L SFI 6cyl, and I turn my engine on runs fine but then when I turn on the a/c it blows only hot air. i can hear the idling going up and down so i poped the hood and listened. What I hear was I think to be the compressor clicking on then immediatly off about 1 - 2 seconds later. What could it be?

It is most likely the freon level is way low.

Why does my mazda mpv stall when ac is on but it runs fine when the ac is dissconnected

Make sure that your drive belt and ac belts are tight. A loose belt will look like many problems. Also could be your ac compressor. They have ac compressor lubrication in a can just like the freon. You can notice the extra strain the ac puts on the engine when you turn it on and especially at idle. So 1. Make sure belts are tight and in good condition, if not replace. 2. Check freon level in ac. If freon level is okay add ac oil conditioner.

2001 Dodge Stratus AC goes on and off?

Check the fuse for a/c compressor make sure it is completely pushed in slot then check wiring going to the high and low pressure switchs also if you have electric fans on radiator make sure it comes on when you turn on the a/c that would most likely be the cause of intermittent a/c issue also check plug on compressor if it was a lack of freon it wouldn't work at all

I have freon, and there are no leaks and had a air compressor put in 2 years ago but my car is blowing hot air only

There are a few things that can cause this. First off, make sure that the compressor is turning on when you turn on the AC switch. With the AC on full blast, look at the engine, locate the compressor and make sure that the center hub (the clutch) is spinning, not just the pulley around it that the belt rides on.

If the clutch is not spinning, or if it cycles on and off repeatedly, then your AC compressor is not functioning properly. This could be due to a failed compressor or to a low level of freon in the system.

If the clutch is spinning, then the next thing you should check is your freon level, get a temperature-dependent basic freon gauge, (like the one I posted in the link at the bottom) hook it up, set the outside air temperature on the gauge and then it will show you the ideal freon pressure level. What most people do not know is that having too much freon in a system will cause it to blow just as warm as an under-filled system. The freon level has to be in the "sweet spot" for it to properly work.

If your freon is at the proper level and your AC clutch is on and functioning then it could possibly be the AC switch in your instrument panel, or one of a couple of different parts in the engine compartment, but 90 percent of the time the problem will be found within the bounds of what I just listed. Good luck!

A/c not working

The first thing that would need to be checked would be the freon level in the ac system, the most common reason for the ac not working is due to loss of the freon, when the system is low the ac will shut down, the compressor will not engage. the only problem would be that gauges would be needed to see if its low on gas,you can trun on the ac and see if the compressor turns on, if the compressor turns on then it may not be low but if the compressor turns on and off rapidly then that is a sign of low freon in the system, i would tell you to add gas to system but not installing the correct amount will lead to compressor damage and thats costly, i would have you take it to a tech to check it out and recharge the system and add dye to help locate the leak and also have oil added to the system depending on how low the system is. good day.

The ac is blowing out only hot air

  1. Have your A/C's Freon pressure tested. If it is low, have it charged with new freon.
  2. If your Freon is at the correct level, your Compressor or Compressor Clutch may have gone bad.
  3. When you turn your A/C on, can you tell if the compressor kicks on? Usually you will feel a slight shudder from the engine, or you will hear the RPM's slightly raise and then level out. The temperature blend door may be stuck (if a/c compressor kicks-in)

First thing to check is to ensure there is freon gas, which normally will stop the compressor located near the belt from rotating if ever it is low on gas or has detected any other problem.Hope this helps.Any question please feel free to ask and I will get back to you in due course.Good luck.

Low on freon,or the expansion valve is bad,try adding freon to the system,if the compressor stops cycling, then that is the problem,if this was helpful, please rate, thank you.

1999 Chrysler LHS, my daughters a/c was working fine, then the next minute its blow hot air? Could it be as simple as a fuse?

Check the fuse first, but odds are it won't be the fuse that's the problem.

Odds are you have had a sudden refrigerant loss due to a leak or broken line, or your condenser has failed
