Question about 1999 Saturn SL
I have a similar problem to some of those on this forum: I have a 1999 Saturn SL1. It was working fine and then I turned it off at a gas station to fill it up, and it would not turn back on.
When I turn the key, the console lights and sounds kind of freak out, and will blink and make sounds in an non-normal way. The engine will not even try to crank, let alone turn over. I called AAA and they jumped my car with one of those mobile jumper packs, (though trying to jump it with another car did not work at all) and I was able to drive it home without any issues (8 miles away). As I was expecting, I am not able to start it again without that mobile jumper pack.
The symptoms are the same: turning the key does not crank the engine, and the console lights and sounds freak out. There is a subtle clicking from within the center console, and that is it. I'm assuming that I need to replace the starter with something like this: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sku/Saturn/SL1/Quality-Built/Starter/1999/Base/4_Cyl_1-dot-9L/MPA12380.html?tlc=Engine+%26+Drivetrain
Suggestions? Thanks so much!!
I think i know what ur problem is, i think its the relay to ur starter, not the starter itself. if there is a clicking sound when u turn the key that usually means that the relay to the starter is bad. hope this helps u
