Well if it's the 3.5 SFI engine, it's on the timing chain cover,toward the top of the engine, held in by one 10mm bolt. If you have the 3.8L it's built into the ignition module. The crank sensor is a pain in the **** on the 3.8. That's located above the oilpan, toward the rear of the car, in between the transaxle & engine,also held in by one 10mm bolt. The crank shaft position sensor is located just above the starter on the front of the engine block.If your not sure what you can do is purchase one and then look at the connector end to see if it looks the same.Hope this helps.Good luck.
The crank sensor is located on the leftside of engine at the base of oil level indicator, heres a diagram to show you, the diagram show it with engine upside down,the sensor is near the bottom of the block right above the top of oil pan,remove a bolt and it slides out.
The crank sensor is located below the front exhaust manifold and above the starter. To access it, you must lift the front of the vehicle, and remove the starter. Once the starter is removed the sensor is visible. Because of the poor location and poor GM engineering these sensors fail. You have excessive heat from the exhaust and oil leaking from the valve covers that short them out. Also once the sensor is replaced, it must undergo a re-learn process. Unfortunately this process can only be performed by a GM dealer via their computer system.....if you need further assistance, feel free to post them on FYa...hopefully this helps!!
