1991 Lincoln town car :Ignition lock removal without key:-- Its not advisable. There is a small pin that needs to be driven out. if you do this wrong, you break the cast aluminum steering column and the new lock cylinder wont go in. locksmith charges roughly 70.00 to do this for you. It's little money well spent to prevent you from having to replace your steering column. ----------- Still if you want to try it the instructions are as follow:--- Remove the plastic cover(a couple of screws underneath}. Look behind the Ignition and you will find a small hole, insert a small screwdriver or stiff wire and push the locking pin to release the cylinder. If that is not helping then other method. Drill through the lock. There is a "gear" on the back of the lock. Try not to drill through it. After you drill through the lock you can use a screwdriver to turn that gear to the right position (RUN or ACC ). Then all you have to do is remove the steering wheel and mis. parts to get to a screw that holds the ignition switch in. Then remove the lock and install the new one. But in this procedures there is risk of getting any part cracked. Thanks. keep updated for any more query.you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

Its just about impossible to bypass. You would need a key that matches the old key chip cut to the new tumblers. Each key has a chip in it that the computer looks for.

Hey i have a 1991 buick park ave i lost my keys i went to the dealer to get one made they said its to old no codes are comen up what do i do please help

You will have to replace the ignition lock cylinder and it will come with a new ignition key. As for the doors/trunk you will most likely have to hire a locksmith to make you a new one. Or you can replace all of the door lock cylinders as well. See links below.

I lost my car keys to my 91 lincoln towncar how do i switch the ignition off of another car to mine or what can i do to get the key code from inside the cylinder?

Hi
there should be a black shroud around the new ignition barrel, ensure that the key from the car your are taking it from is matched, it should be if you are removing it all from scratch.

once you have the new barrel, you simply plug in the wire from the new black shroud part into your car, the code is inside the black thing and the transponder is inside the key, so long as they are from the same car then it should work.

Quite easy

Dan

What would you do when your 1996 lincoln town car doors won't lock with the key. And the trunk won't open.

How can a lock not lock or unlock with a physical key? Maybe the cylinders are frozen? Try squirting a little oil into the locks.
1996 Town Cars have keys and keyless entry. The physical keys are two, an ignition key and a door key. You can't use the door key in the ignition, nor the ignition key in the door. They aren't interchangeable.
The default key code for keyless entry is posted on the right trunk hinge, inside the trunk.

68 camaro no keys should I drill out the ignition?

a drill will do it but you run the risk of damage if the
drill binds or breaks off in the lock.
If i remember correctly the door lock uses the same
key if it was mine i would remove the door lock and
take it to a chevy dealer or lock smith and have a couple made.
if you have any other ? give us a shout good luck

I need to take out old ignition lock cylinder without key on 1989 toyota camry le -lost keys-bought locksmart replacement but it says old has to be in acc position to remove-

This is what the tech manual says.....

Ignition Lock/Switch REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an air bag, wait at least 90 seconds before working on the vehicle. CAUTION
Some models covered by this manual may be equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), which uses an air bag. Whenever working near any of the SRS components, such as the impact sensors, the air bag module, steering column and instrument panel, disable the SRS, as described in Section 6.
  2. Remove the lower steering column cover. Unfasten the ignition switch connector under the instrument panel.
  3. Remove the screws which secure the upper and lower halves of the steering column cover.
  4. Turn the lock cylinder to the ACC position with the ignition key.
  5. Push the lock cylinder stop in with a small, round object (cotter pin, punch, etc.). NOTE: On some vehicles, it may be necessary to remove the steering wheel and combination switch first.
  6. Withdraw the lock cylinder from the lock housing while depressing the stop tab.
  7. To remove the ignition switch, unfasten its securing screws and withdraw the switch from the lock housing. To install:
  8. Align the locking cam with the hole in the ignition switch and insert the switch into the lock housing.
  9. Secure the switch with its screw(s).
  10. Make sure both the lock cylinder and column lock are in the ACC position. Slide the cylinder into the lock housing until the stop tab engages the hole in the lock.
  11. Install the steering column covers and connect the ignition switch wiring.
  12. Connect the negative battery cable.

Get a new cylinder put old key with chip in it. Find orange wire from old lock cylinder at bottom of steering column just under dash. Disconnect and connect new wire from new lock cyl. Get a copy of the old key for the old lock cylinder {no chip needed} to start car. Hide or mount new lock cylinder hidden under dash. Remove chip key to activate theft system.
