2008 dodge ram 3500 brakelights will stay on after applied 3-4 times. will not shut off until 3-5 minutes after ignition is shut off???

    Hi:
You most likely need a new brake light switch. It is located near the top of your brake pedal arm, and it is held in place with a pin and a clip, as well as a removeable electrical connector. They are not too expensive, less than $20, and relatively easy to change.

    Hope this helps!

    Brakelights

It sounds like you have a faulty brake light switch, wich happened last year to a friend of mine on her plymouth. The switch is located above the brake petal on the petal assembly that bolts to your dash. It is a retivly inexpensive part, and somewhat easy to replace, requiring minamal tools. (screw driver and a pair of needle nose)
    Hope this helps!
By the way, It may cause the check engine light to go on after a while of it doing this, reading faulty circut brake light switch, as it did when my friend had the same problem.

The brakelight activation switch on top of brake peddle had come loose, not allowing lights to come on and affecting circuit to 4wd selection switch. I fixed the brake peddle switch and it solved the problem.
