Thats odd because you can buy them for chevy trail blazers with vortec engine 4.2. Should be located in front of throttle to the left.

Where is the egr on a trail blazer 2002 4.2 l

I can't find any listing showing that this 4.2 6 cylinder engine uses an EGR valve, and I have read chevy owners saying the same thing about this engine. It does have a block off plate, but no valve mounted. If had one it would be bolted to the top passenger side of the engine

All years of Trailblazers do not have an EGR valve. If you have a Blazer, it's located right in front of the engine on the top.

It sounds like your EGR valve needs to be replaced. You can go to any auto parts store and get one. Try replacing spark plugs and plug wires also. If the timing was off it would pick up speed slowly and would vibrate really bad at idle. When you go to accelerate if it doesn't accelerate normally it may be the timing but i highly dought it. Try plugs and wires first. then the EGR valve.

First thing to try would be spark plug wires. Then your timing, and check for vacuum leaks. ie: broken or loose vacuum lines, loose intake bolts, etc. But it sounds like plug wires.
