No bus means the computer is not talking it has lost commnication with other computers and sensors, the first thing to do is check all your fuses if they are all good then check the battery connection and also the postive cable from battery to fuse/ relay box in engine compartment, make sure they are tight and clean if all is good then you may have a bad computer but i would have a tech diagnose this before just replace the ecm.

Why won't it start?

What year , make an model vehicle . The first thing I would do if this vehicle come to my shop would be to hook up a scan tool . I realize you probably don't have , that's why I suggest you have it towed to a ASE certified repair shop that does. You need to be aware of how all modules are intertwined on a serial data bus . Google that for your make vehicle . GM class 2 data bus an now all new vehicles have C.A.N - controller area network . You have modules for the airbags , ABS , BCM , PCM ,TCM , heater control panel , blower motor module ,lighting control module etc... All it takes is one module to have a problem to bring down the bus ,causing no start problems .

I own a ford focus sedan 2006 LX automatic, the gear stick isnt talking to the dash when you select a gear, you try to put it in reverse and on the dash it says Park, i eventaully got it started and

On the transmission is a sensor ,Transmisson range sensor. This sensor tells the ( PCM ) engine computer what gear the vehicle is in.The PCM in turn puts a message on the serial data bus ,where the instrument cluster reads it and puts it on PRND321 what ever gear your in. That part of your cluster mite be bad or the range sensor mite need to be adjusted . There mite be a DTC stored in one of the modules . Serial Data Bus you should read this if don't know what this is.

Sounds like you may have a bad ignition switch. The ignition has be on to read codes and the ignition must be turned to crank a starter motor

2001 dodge ram 1500 5.9 4x4 motor turns over but will not start. ran fine the day before. the odometer reads no bus, check engine light comes on and gas gauge does not read now what could be causing...

First check is a look in the fuse box for a blown or loose fuse and also push all relays into their sockets. The check engine light shows that a trouble code is registered in the computer. Rent a scanner, read out any code(s), and pursue to repairs.

No Bus Error

All the modules are connected together to communicate with each other via the PCI bus. It is possible that one of the modules is pulling the bus down.Since the vehicle won't start it could be any one of the modules. It will be a process of elimination to find the faulty one by disconnecting them one at a time. Here are a few, powertrain control module (the one you replaced) Instrument cluster, overhead console, anti-lock brakes, airbag. Since the cluster unplugged wont read anymore, just try to start the vehicle to see if that was the one. Otherwise see if the odometer message of "no bus" goes away after each one is unplugged.

2001 jeep cherokee cranks, no start, no bus

I just had the same problem of my 2001 jeep cherokee not starting with no gauges responding and a "no bus" reading. After reading the responses I changed out the CPS and my jeep now runs great! however, it was not as hard as I thought it would be. Very easy with 7/16 bit and a 10inch extender. In and out in less than 5 minutes. Finding it was the hardest part. Blends in with the bell housing. I did this from under the jeep with a good shop light. I paid about $80 for the part here in Atlanta, GA
