Question about Mercedes-Benz M-Class
Deutz engine runs rough .starts ,but when revving up it sometimes runs good, then slows down .Almost like running out of fuel.There is a electric transferpump in addition to the original mechanical pump. I emptied the tank,and put clean fuel in with some diesel conditoner. Did not help. What next? (Machine had not been used for 2 years,and the fuel looked like it had water in it.)

Injectors can go "bad" in a couple of different ways; all they are is an electromagneticaly controlled nozzle. When the ECU "fires" the injector, it pulses a ground circuit for 4-8 milliseconds, the electromagnet powers up, the valve at the bottom of the injector opens, and the fuel shoots out, under pressure. The wire can be bad/chafed/corodded/ The electromagnet may be weak. The nozzle may be stuck. Lots of things. But, to put in an injector for a number 4 cylinder misfire (p-0304 code) would be one of the last things that I would do.

Hi You need to get the ecu checked for fault codes if there are none it is possibly low fuel pressure you should allso check this have you changed the fuel filter or opened any fuel lines this could introduce air
which will lower fuel pressure.Good luck Chris.

if is runnig the PCM is not the problem,change the coil pack or the crancshaft position sensor.
the PCM is very expensive(500+) but they hardly go bad. PCM(power control mudule)
one more thing,have you tried the spark plug wires?

have no idea to be honest ,with a few more details i could tell you how to do it with no timing marks though but i would need year of engine so i would know if its common rail or injector pump
