Actron is a good brand to use for either engine OBD-II or separately the ABS Brake OBD-II.

Try Amazon.com or Ebay.com to search for a deal.

Also, try Walmart. They have an OBD II Scanner for under $100.

Good luck to you.

I like the one I got from walmart because it has plain english code descriptions and can be hooked up to a computer for updates and for suggestions on how to fix things on the vehicles from 1996 and on up.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
New users get to try the service completely Free afterwhich it costs $6 per call and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

How hard is it to replace a engine on a 2002 Saab 9-3

It's really easy if you have enough money. You simply drop it off at the mechanic and pay a lot. When the car is done, you pick it up...

OTOH, if you're poor or broke, it depends on your tool set and skill set. If you have lots of tools and some skills or some tools and lots of skills, it's not too bad (just work). If you are short on both and/or money, the job becomes much more difficult. If this is your first engine swap, plan on at least 3 things going horribly wrong. Have a couple hundred extra dollars to throw at these horrible problems as they occur. Don't do it on Sunday!

I have a 2001 Saab 9-3 convertible that has a problem with both of the rear side windows not working and also main swithch that controls front and back not working for two rear side windows. Both front...

Bruce, ur best bet would be to replace the main control switch. change that switch and most likely all will be good. find urself a used main control (window) switch in the front or between front seats. buying used will be a hard find but still u will save money on that.

I hope this work out for u.

no OBDII connection so its a dealer only job unless you want to pay silly money for the special leads and a computer to operate the software .more than its worth easier to just ask dealer

I have a 2000 9-5 saab 4 cylinder but the a/c doesnt always blow but it sometimes blows, the cruise control doesnt work, and the engine has a knocking noise.

Well, these are 3 issues and for the A/C have to check the coolant pressure, engine knock is not good and will have to have it checked out by someone who knows Saabs.

2004 saab 9-3 turbo won't accelerate

i am the owner of a 2004 saab 9-3 that had the same problem. the car could barely make it up a slight incline.

after diagnostics, they determined that it was a faulty "pedal travel sensor" (engine code P1238), which cost $590. after labor and taxes, my total came to $747.53. yikes.

sucked to pay that much, but it fixed the problem.

My saab 9.5 starts but doesnt run the engine!

The pump comes as a complete unit from autozone for about $470. You should be able to gain acess under the rear seat to replace the pump. What you can do is remove the rear seat(making sure there is in fact an acess panel) and the trun the key adn see if you can hear the feul pump prime the system. If not, turn the key again and "smack" the pump assembly and see if it kicks on. If it does, replace it. If not it would be a good idea to get someone to jump it with the harness disconnected and see if it comes on or you can take a chance and replace it. It could fix it.

How do I replace my 2004 Saab 9 3 linear's water pump.

Re : the computer , they better cover it under warranty or they ****.
Re : the water pump , you have a leak and they say it is the water pump , I have no reason to doubt that they have honestly checked out the problem and determined that a new water pump is the only solution but , damn $ 1000 is pretty steep. I would look around for another mechanic for a second opinion and a quote. Avoid dealerships. Not sure what engine you have but i just looked in my saab with a 2.3 and hope I never have to do mine. I am pretty good with a wrench but I know there would be lots of swearing involved.

Saab 9-5 air conditioner is out

Totally depends what is wrong. If it simply a leak somewhere, it could cost under $200: find the leak, replace the hose or fitting, done. If the A/C compressor has gone bad, it could be around $1200: new compressor, accumulator, labor to install.

Good Luck!

Saab 9-5 se, heater problem

yes the problem can be solved, costly repair the arm on the control link is broken common problem the whole dash have to come a part I used to work at SAAB as a service writer and just getting a tech on the side was to costly for me and we use to charge customer any where from $1200-$1800, there also could be a lease expensive repair some time there is this part which looks like a toilet paper roll which breaks it could be replace for less money, I'm no mechanic but I'm pretty sure you can find one to take a look at it, and if your economy is any thing like ours it should be no problem finding one and I'm assuming you are not American from the words petrol and wind screen.
