My c1500 is on its 4th fuel pump and machanics all tell me its just a problem with this truck. However They put a napa brand one on after a motor rebuild 3 years ago and I have not had a problem since. You may need to put a fuel injector cleaner through it. There is a valve at the top rail and if it is a vortec you need at least 65 psi there when its runnining the throttle body needs like 35psi.
If the mileage is over 100k, it's ripe for a pump. Put your Nike's on and "Just do it". Really just for peace of mind, if the pump has not been done, it's due and they always go when you're trying to get a pregnant woman to the hospital or you've won a lottery and you need to pick up the prize in a hurry.

Yep. 180000 miles. I have checked he fuel pressure when running. It maintains 55 to 60 psi at the rail. I have not put the gauge on it and watched it when it dies. You don't think there is any chance the ignition coil is breaking down do ya? I guess I want to hit every other/easier option first. Hope this helps someone else with similar problems also. Thanks for your feedback. I'll follow up with results.
