SOURCE: 96 Nissan Maxima Radio Antenna

The gears are going out in the motor. If the antenna goes up and down, then the gears have corrosion. If it does not move....then the gears are toasted or the antenna cable inside the housing is broken.

SOURCE: Antenna motor runs while the radio is on or off. The antenna is stuck in the extended position. When the car is shut off the antenna motor continues to run to retract the antenna, but it doesn't go

You need to pull the fuse for the antenna or just unplug it. It has a fairly ridgid plastic wire that pushes the antenna up and down. Works fine until the wire breaks then it rolls up (antenna down) but it never increases resistance because the antenna never comes down , it's like a fishing reel when the lure breaks off, so the motor thinks that the antenna is still coming down and it will run and run and run trying to do it's job. Your lucky it stuck up and not down. If you want your antenna to go up and down again you'll have to buy and install a new one.

SOURCE: antenna will not go up and down, making loud noise

Yes the motor can be unplugged, the plastic gears in those motors have a tendency to wear out.

SOURCE: 92 buick century power antenna motor wont shut off

Well, even if you pull the connector (under carpet) apart with gray white and green wires(ones seen going to motor from door gap when opened) it still doesn't stop. next access point is from behind mud gaurd in wheel well. If I can't disconnect it from there I will just cut the bloody wires.

2007 Nissan Altima radio works but no sound, do I have to replace the radio?

Is your windshield broken. you may have NO antenna. Also do you, or have you had an account with Sirius Radio? If so, contact Sirius. To actually test to see if there is a speaker problem, look up radio repairs, take it by to get an estimate on fixing; They may tell you if it is what you think or not and give you a price. If it is not those things and the estimate is too high. you may opt for a portable radio to put in the car. They're cheap now. Might save you either a bunch of dollars or a bunch of time and grief, or both.

good luck,

Where is the power steering fluid reservoir and the antenna control

power steering pump reservoir is located on the drivers side of the engine ( up front ) right behind the power steering pump.
the antenna control wire should be connected to the radio and when the radio is powered on it sends a signal to the antenna relay that in turn activates the antenna motor.

'96 NISSAN ALTIMA: HARD TO START WHEN COLD, BUT STARTS GOOD WHEN AT RUNNING TEMP.

This could be a old/dead/dieing battery. It's easier for a starter to turn a motor that has already warmed up because the motors oil is very smooth at operating temperature. When the vehicle is cold it will be much thicker thus making it much harder for the starter to turn over the motor. Thanks for asking! Try replacing your battery.
