Question about 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

2002 GC A/C Problem - Please help My wife and I had dinner with an elderly neighbor tonight. She mentioned the heat (100 +) and the fact that her 2002 GC has not had working A/C for 3 years. During this time, she has paid over $3000 to have it fixed/serviced. Longest that it has worked is 1 week. She has had the condenser, dryer and evaporator replaced. Also the high and low pressure safety switches. Also the dash controls. She has been to A/C specialty shops and dealerships. She has written Jeep and spoken to regional reps, all with no solution. I looked at the car tonight. The car starts and idles fine. The belt is intact and turns fine. The 15A fuse under the hood is good. The dash switches and lights are functioning. The fan blows and its controls work the fan pressure. Not sure about the clutch relay. The clutch is not engaging and the compressor is not turning, even for a moment. There doesn't seem to be any voltage to the compressor clutch. Any ideas? And why hasn't anyone been able or chosen to fix it? Please help as this is an elderly women who doesn't need this? thanks. Steve

It probably is a relay or wiring to the relay.

She doesn't have to have an a/c shop specifically to work on this problem.

Actually, this problem falls under the 'auto electric' shop category, in my opinion.

They can test the relays for functioning and uses test lights in ways that the regular a/c technicians should but in most cases don't do.

The wire is broken somewhere between the compressor and the relay, or the relay is burnt out.

wish you luck in this repair, sir.

I do believe that you have found the problem. The only other thing would be the connection at the headlight itself.

My eldery neighbor pulled the dipstick tube out in a 2001 ford escape where does it go back in

Actually, the dipstick fits into a metal tube and that tube can be found (usually) at the front or side of the engine. The tube diameter is approximately equal to the width of the dipstick. There aren't very many tubes under the hood that match that description

Car wont start turns over but doesnt fire

I can almost bet you had a certain shop do the replacement... I won't say but if the shops name starts with a F and ends with a E then They did the same thing to an elderly neighbor who lived close and It was exacly as you discribed, I took it back to them and 3 sets later, they finally got it right.. Their tires **** also!! Just my opinon... Gather your paperwork and call them and make them pay to tow it and Have them repair it... Theres been too many complaints against them for just that one issue!! Stay on them and Good luck!! You paid for a service and a part, The part didn't fail without help from bad Mechanic

CAR OVER HEATS AND APPEARS TO BE LOSING COOLANT OUT EXHAUST PIPE..

If, in fact, you're loosing coolant thru the tailpipe, then I'd expect you have either a blown head gasket or a cracked head.

Check around with friends, relatives, neighbors, etc. and try to get a consensus on a good local mechanic, then go to him for diagnosis.

Power seats work, lights come on for the heated seats, but the seats do not heat

My jeep has the same problem. SO i looked on the recall page and just found out that there was a recall on the 2002 jeep G.C. heat seats, they can over heat and eventually just stop working. Just go on the site and print of the page, take it into a chrysler dealership and they will fix it for free!!!

My 2000 jeep doesnt heat whats wrong

Heating problems are very frequent problem with G.C.
However, the root causes are not necessarely the sames.

First, do you run a 4.0 L or 4.7L
Second, is your vehicule equipped with dual zone air control (driver side and passenger side controlled independently)
Third, does you temperature gauge needle in your dash indicate very near to 100 degrees C or 195 degrees F when the engine reachs its normal operating temp.
Fourth, does it heat a little bit or nothing at all
Fifth, what is the average wheather temperature in your living country

Please provide these info and we will try to help you.
