Question about 1999 Mitsubishi Galant
First, check fluid level. and if it's ok, then check the condition of the fluid. It should be red if it uses Dexron III fluid.
If topping off the fluid does not work, then try asking a transmission shop to rebuild the transmission to restore the reverse gear and clutches.
While they're rebuilding the transmission, they can check other gears for functionality and make your transmission more reliable in the long run.
Wish you luck in getting your reverse fixed in your transmission.
