All cars made in the U.S. and North America in the past several decades are negatively grounded mandated by automotive manufacturers and the government.

I do not know of any cars made domestically or abroad within the last 40 years that had positively grounded systems or batteries. That's just the way it is, I guess.

good question.

This might be a stupid question but where is the battery located in a 2000 Dodge intrepid.

Behind cover in front of wheel on passenger side, inside fender . Remove passenger front wheel for better access. Jumper points for jumping with booster cable should be labeled under hood. Usually (+)Positive at front area of passenger fender, and negative up near strut.

I need to jump my 1999 Dodge intrepid

The battery is located way down near the fender, because of this dodge made a positive and negative posts at the top near the strut tower to jump the car on the passenger side of the engine compartment.

Remember positive TO positive

And negative TO negative

OR YOU WILL SHORT OUT THE BATTERY AND POSSIBLY THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.
