SOURCE: fault code P0499 has be

P0499 Evaporative Emission System Vent Valve Control Circuit High. There is an electrical problem with the canister solenoid circuit. You need to replace the solenoid.

Try this first.....Disconnect the NVLD Assembly harness connector. Measure the resistance of the NVLD Solenoid coil. The resistance should be between 7.5 and 8.5 ohms. If not then you need to replace the NVLD Assembly.
Probe the wire side of that connector, wire color "white with dark green stripe" (power) and other side of tester to a GOOD ground, or negative power. Is the voltage above 1.0 volt? If yes. You have a short in the wiring .. Follow the wiring from the NVLD up to the engine compartment looking for the problem.

Please get back to us if you have further query else please accept the suggestion.

Thank you for contacting

What is the fix for P0499 on '04 Saturn Vue?

if all island pumps do that, that means the TANK VENT is bad.

and P0499 , is same deal.

1st google hit, the cars FSM goes to great details on all tests. for this

EVAP fail, (means in gringo. tank venting system bad)

we have a pressure tester in the shop to find this, with Nitrogen gas.

i have a home made one at home, (simple to make and cheap)

Have had check engine light on over a year first code p0442 changed gas cap' purge soleniod, charcoal canisterdidnt work changed leak detection pump now codes p0440 and p0499 are coming up any idea

you can look this obd2 trouble code table.
for p0440, you can try this:

Remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the code, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back.

Inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses

Inspect for damaged or disconnected hoses around the Evap purge solenoid

Check and/or replace the sensor

Check and/or replace the purge valve

Have a professional use a smoke machine to detect leaks

I have a 2006 GMC truck with its engine light on and after I put my OBD II on it the following codes appeared. P0449 and P0455 are the problem and I need to know how to fix it and how much it will cost to...

These are very common codes. Code P0499 is for the EVAP Canister Vent Control Solenoid circuit and Code P0455 indicates that there is a large leak in your EVAP system. Chances are VERY LIKELY that the leak is being caused by the vent control solenoid being stuck open. If this is the case, repairing what is wrong with the Vent Control Solenoid has a very good chance of fixing BOTH codes.

There is a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) for your vehicle that applies to code P0455:
TSB REFERENCE NUMBER 02-06-04-037I (NOTE: That last digit is an "I" not a "1")

The vent control solenoid fails due to water, dirt and debris entering the solenoid through the vent filter. This TSB involves replacing the vent control solenoid and installing a long section of heater hose to the vent filter and relocating it away from the underside of the vehicle. I usually use about 8 feet of hose and tie the filter unit to the brace under the hood next to the brake booster. It is not very hard to do. The hardest part is disconnecting the electrical connector from the original solenoid - it is not very easy to get your hands in there.

The kit is available from any parts store that carries AC Delco parts. The kit comes with everything you need except the heater hose and wire ties to secure it.

The part number for the kit is: 19152349

I have also had a couple of them where the wiring harness has rubbed against the underside pinch-weld area of the left rear of the cab, causing the code P0449 When you install the new service kit, be sure to inspect the wiring harness to the solenoid connector for damage here.
