Question about 2008 Jeep Liberty

1 Answer

2008 Jeep Patriot will not start sometimes. Turn the key and nothing. Acts like it is not in park. Dashboard lights come on but the starter does not engage. You can play with the gear shift and eventually it starts. Any ideas?

so what you mean is it wont turn over? do the lights dim in the start mode of ignition switch? sounds like a few hard taps on the starter and maybe it will turn over,, might be you have a bad starter.

2008 jeep patriot wont start after accident

some of these models have a fuse box on that side under the hood. I'd start there first. After that, have an assistant try to start vehicle while voltmeter is attached to battery terminals. Did voltage drop to 10-11volts during cranking attempt? If so, suspect starter.

Turn the key and nothing happens

check the neutral safty switch, if this is bad it will not start in park. put it ineutral and see if it starts. if so switch is bad. also the vehicles made lately have a switch in back of brake pedal witch means brake has to be pressed to start car. check safety switch first.
