Question about 2001 Ford Excursion
Hm. On the 2001 Excursion transmission, there is this problem with shifting into second gear.
Transmissions have sensors in them that detect speed and pressure inside the bell housing.
If one of the speed sensors is not working you might experience a no shift or late shift situation.
Also, if the sensor is good, but the passage ways are clogged with clutch material due to normal wear and tear, the transmission will experience late shifts or even no shift situations.
Have you had the transmission flushed and filled with new transmission fluid, lately?
If you haven't spend the $100 or so to have this service performed.
It's not a cure all, but sometimes it can help and is cheaper than getting your entire transmission rebuilt or replaced.
I would start there.
Good luck to you.
