Question about 1990 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Conv
I had a fuel pump changed on my 1990 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais, and the tank at the same time (as well as the sending unit and screen).
The gas tanks and lines rust out in Pennsylvania winters and wet summers.
If, however, you changed the fuel pump and it does the same thing, this makes me think that it is something else.
Have a pressure check of the fuel system performed. You should have plenty of fuel pressure on the fuel rail of the fuel injectors.
If not, then I would change the filter again.
I spent $1200 on changing fuel lines, tank, fuel filter, and fuel pump and sending unit about 1.5 years ago and sold the car to someone else, because it was getting kind of older as far as style.
However, the fuel pump went bad within 2 weeks of having it installed.
I had it repaired at no additional cost because it was in warranty, through Firestone.
But, it is still running today, as far as I know, with no fuel related problems.
Of course, that's quite a bit to pay for this repair, but it's worth it if you plan on using the car yourself and you like the body style or features on that year of car.
Hope this helps.
