Question about 1999 Ford Escort
Start by getting the Haynes repair manual on the vehicle. Assuming you have never replaced the Timing Belt I would look at that first. If this vehicle has a Distributor remove the cap and crank the motor. If the Rotor does not turn the Timing belt is broken. If the Timing belt is good start following the trouble shooting steps in the Haynes manual to isolate the problem.
