How do I locate the number one piston and the firing order on the 1999 New Volkswagon Beetle ? I need to take off the timingbelt to get to the water pump. I need to put the number one piston on the TDC.

To put at TDC, on the transmission housing, where it bolts to engine block, will have a rubber plug, remove and align pre diagram, there are for stander or automatic transmission, the one where you can see the flywheel is stander, or you could align the crankshaft pulley, hope this was very helpful.
