The fuel filter is located inside the tank it is part of the fuel pump assembly. Some have two filters you can replace one without replacing the whole unit It is located at the bottom of the pump. Did you check you see if there is a warranty or recall? You have to drop the fuel trank to replace the filter or the pump. You need to take the fuel pressure to make sure you have a fuel problem.

How do I replace the fuel filter on a Chrysler 1997 town and country 3.8 lxi

  • Relieve the fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump relay from the power distribution center. Start the engine and allow it to run until it stalls. Try to start it again and let it run until it stalls. Repeat this procedure until it no longer will start. Turn the ignition off.
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable and raise the vehicle. Support the fuel tank with a transmission jack. Locate the fuel filter on the top of your Chrysler Town & Country fuel tank.
  • Remove the fuel line from the front of the tank and then the ground strap. Next, remove the inboard side of the fuel tank straps and front T-strap fastener. Lower the tank about 6 inches.
  • Detach the fuel lines from the fuel pump module and then remove the fuel filter. Put the new filter in its place. Tighten the fuel filter bolts to 40 inch pounds.
  • Reconnect the fuel lines to the fuel pump module and reposition the tank. Replace the front T strap fastener and tighten it to 250 inch pounds. Put the inboard fuel tank straps back and tighten them to 40 foot pounds.
  • Put on the ground strap and connect the fuel line in the front of the tank. Start the engine of your Town & Country and check for leaks.

How to change fuel filter on 2005 town & country van.

Unfortunately there is no easy, or inexpensive way to do this on your vehicle. Chrysler decided to make fuel sending unit that contains the fuel pressure regulator, the fuel filter, and the fuel pump along with the level sending unit all together and located it inside of the fuel tank. The whole tank has to be dropped out of the bottom of the van and the whole assembly changed.

How do i find the pump pressure switch

Fuel pump pressure is regulated by the pumps themselves. They are located inside of the gas tank. Usually low pressure is an indicator, first, of a clogged fuel filter. Follow fuel line from tank and find fuel filter, often located along lower body. More specific information can be had from you specific service manual . Usually Available at any auto parts store.

If you have a gas engine in your Dodge, then the fuel filter is located inside the fuel tank and is a part of the fuel pump module. In theory it is a lifetime filter but should it need replacement the fuel tank would need to be lowered/removed and the pump module replaced. I don't believe you can buy the filter seperately but think it is a part of the fuel pump module. Hope this helps!
