Check underhood two Electrical Center (driver and passenger side) for primary and secondary FAN relays...

Also I suggest check the 1998-Chevrolet-Lumina-Owners-Manual for other details (page 299 and next).

Hope helps (remember rates this).

SOURCE: cant find my book and

The fuse box in inside the vehicle (not the one under the rear seat) & the fuse panel in the engine compartment both have fuses for the cooling fans. Below is a diagram of both panels and the cooling fan fuses are marked for you. If you can't find your owners manual and would like a copy, you can email me at csautomotivecars@att.net with your make, model & year. I will be happy to email you a copy at no cost to you. I hope this helps and good luck.

You have a relay there are 2 speeds low speed and high speed this is controled by a cooling fan module if you changed fan and it does not work then you will need to check the fan module, first the relay its in the engine fuse junction box High speed is marked on the relay C1056 and low marked C1058, here is what you can do go to the high spped relay open thhe cover and expose the relay with key on collapse the relay does the fan come on? if it doesnt replace the fan module if it does you will still have to replace the fan module here is the location is at the radiator on the front (may be under shroud)

Why does my cadillac deville heat up

If you look by the Radiator there will be an Electric fan motor. This Radiator fan may have 2 speeds. When the A/C is turned on, it will turn on at least low speed. Otherwise Water Temperature sensors make it work and spin to cool the Radiator.

You need to have this circuit checked. You need to find out if the Electric fan is any good and if both speeds work. The sensors for the fan may not be turning it on or may not be turning it on with High speed. Some Models have a Water Temperature sensor and some have a second sensor just for the Water gauge.
You need to investigate just the part that turns on the Electric Radiator fan.

There may be fuses for the Relays which operate this Radiator fan. The Relay that gets the signal from the sensor may not be working either.

While it sounds like a lot of parts, it makes sense when you know why the parts are there. A Temperature sensor turns on the Relay which has the strength to connect and maintain power to the Electric Radiator fan and operate the multiple speeds. If a fuse breaks, there is a bad part in the system. Just replacing a broken fuse will not fix the bad part.

You need to trace down the bad part and get it off your car. If you already have paid a shop and the car is not fixed, then they should investigate what I am writing to you. Morally, they should continue to test your car for the money you paid to keep it from overheating.

The parts you put on it already will not hurt and could have been part of the problem. Now you need to get the rest of the problem fixed.

My eclectic fan quit working, what could cause that?

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. Are you talking about your radiator fan? If so, you need to check the radiator fan fuse in your fuse box. If the fuse is good, you need to test the wires on the fan. You either have a bad fan or there is a bad wire.

Why does my radiator fan not work

Check the 60 amp fuse in the under hood fuse block for the rad fan, if it blew the rad fan is probably seizing up and will need replacing, the other posibility is that the coolant temp sensor is not working properly and the computer does not know how hot the coolant is! and may need replacing.

99 honda civic lx, my fans are'nt turning? Could this be a fuse??

Do you mean radiator fans or heater fans?

If radiator fans, they don't work all the time, but only when it gets too hot. When the car is not moving, they will usually go on eventually. But in normal speeds, you don't need fans.

If there is a problem, it is usually the relay, but could be the ground, one of two fuses, or the temperature sensor. The main fuse is a big one, because they draw more electricity then anything else. The switch is usually in the radiator, and powers the relay primary from a small fuse. The relay secondary then goes from the large fuse to the fan, and back through ground.

Let me know if you mean the heater fan.

Overheating

Hi,

Most normal causes for overheating would be:
  • clogged radiator,
  • insufficient coolant level (radiator and reservoir);
  • too soft radiator hoses;
  • defective/leaky water pump (impeller);
  • water pump belt/tensioner;
  • thermostat (mechanical);
  • thermal switch;
  • radiator fan, fan clutch;
  • fan relay;
  • fan fuse.
In some instances, the fan only works in conjunction with the A/C and/or heater and therefore would only work if either of those two are enabled.

Should your particular vehicle be using a radiator fan with clutch, that could also cause the fan blades not to spin even if the fan motor is turning.

Pls check the above mentioned components.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
