Question about 2007 Toyota Land Cruiser

2007 Land Cruiser stalls to idle and non responsive to gas pedal

2007 Toyota Land Cruiser, 40K miles. When heated up (long drives, hauling trailers) the engine sometimes either stalls down to a low rough idle and is completely non responsive to gas pedal or will not re-start. Usually back to normal after 15 to 30 minutes with hood up. No engine lights or anything visible on computer. Acts like our old truck that used to vapor lock in high temps but shouldn't be doing that with fuel injection so am stumped here.

Had exact same problem after driving 120 miles in Florida heat. After 30 minutes started but ran rough for a day and now seem fine. Thought at first fuel filter or dirty gas. Going to replace filter anyway. Is this a common problem?

Yes, of course! If their previous excessively expensive repair did NOT fix the vehicle, that is PROOF they were WRONG, and that they OWE you a REFUND for the INCORRECT part, AND it replacement labor! Complain to the Federal Trade Commission if they don't do something about their demonstrated INCOMPETENCE ... so far!

Which oil is best for my 2007 4runner 35000 miles

Well, I can tell you the grade is 5w-30.

Non-synthetic you need to change the oil every 3,000 miles.

Full synthetic, you can go a little longer on oil changes. Like 4,000 to 5,000. Better for higher demand engines. Like hauling trailers and stuff.

As far as the brand, personally I like Valvoline. Other people have different brands they like. But, that just mine.

Starting problem at cold weather and even if it starts it stop after running a mile or two

Hello
Your Land Cruier should pre-heat its self with the glow plug light on the dash board.

The frist thing to check is the glow plugs to make sure that all 8 are working you will have to remove them to test them one at a time,
As you will propley find out at least 3 or 4 glow plugs are down.

The idle up is just to lift the revs in the engine for jump starting or running other items on the car ie carvan, trailer.

As it will only lift the revs buy 200-400 RPMs this will have nothing to do with your pre-heat on the Jeep.

If you still have any problems please contact me

Running on lpg then stop turn engine off then start engine and drive 20 metres and engine stalls! switch over to petrol and runs ok switch back to lpg and stalls

check that your cooling system if full of coolant. the coolant that keeps the engine cool actually keeps the gas converter from freezing. alternatively is it hard to start of a morning when cold, if so could be butane wax build up from the gas, in the convertor.
