You need to go to another mechanic, hes taking you for a ride, on your money, this should not cost more the $300.00, don't let him do this job.

The hoses are pre made. All that needs to be done is, remove the broken hose and replace it, evacuate the system and recharge it. $200-300 MAX.

It appears that you have blown a hose. Check all hoses and if the hose is bulged past the hose clamp (grown out over the clamp) replace them all as the hoses are ready to burst.. Have a radiator shop do a flow test on the radiator to check for blocked cores or just replace the radiator as it is due for replacement . If there is signs of rust I would think that there is no coolant conditioner in the system ( anti boil-anti freeze) so I would remedy this .. NATRA radiator shops are accredited repair shops so seek advice from them as to the condition of the cooling system.

I was told that my upper radiator hose is soft. Do I need to replace it and what is the cost?

YEP HOSE TOO SOFT CAN BURST AT ANY MOMENT.MOST OF THE TIME SOFT HOSE BURST IN VERY HOT WEATHER QUICKER DUE TO MORE HEAT AND PRESSURE ON HOSE.HOSE PRICE RANGE $20.00 OR UNDER DEPENDS ON WHERE YOU BUY HOSE.

The air conditioner on my 19998 Buick LaSabre has been slowly dying. For few weeks air would cool only with higher acceleration. Now, it's not cooling (maybe just short bursts with 55+ mph)..could it be...

sounds like freon, and it possibly has a slow leak on a seal or gasket. Go to a Carquest or an Advance Auto store and buy a can of sealer for 134.It comes with a hose for easy filling. It has sealent, small amount of 134, and oil to lubricate the system. Try that, follow directions, and that should be a possible fix. It costs around $21.95 good luck.

Air conditioner quit working after changing battery?

i had the same problem,to me it was the ac/heat door actuator, this turns a motor for the temperature contol, when its broken it ither stays at just one temperature or flips from hot to cold constantly , if it is this is its not a cheap fix. if you go to the dealer just the actuator costs you about $200 and labor is $800 they will tell you that they need to take the whole dashboard out and thats why it will take 8 hours. what i did was get one from the junkyard for $50 and install it myself, all you have to do is open the glove box and take out a 3-4 screwd weird shaped box (actuator) its a tight space but it posible to take out with out pulling the dash,it saves you $800. it took me about half an hour to change it.

Water in the Heater system

On the engine side of the firewall you need to find the small rubber drain hose. it is likely plugged up. dont stick anything hard in there or you can damage stuff inside the heater box.
