Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

Replaced the compressor after the old one made so much noise and now the new one with 35/200 press. Does not get cold. What about the by-pass on the suction line. I'm not familiar with anything like that. Help! Steve

No thing as by-pass on suction line, your reading of 35/200 are good, is that at 2000 rpm, did you evac the system, or it will not cool.

the compressor that pumps up the air suspension does make a horrid noise, and if you can turn it off, like I could in my crown vic, just long enough to see if that is indeed the compressor making the noise you hear, then try that. My switch was located in the trunk.

Serpentine belt squealing

Either the belt has stretched, or the tensioner is not keeping it tight.
Or it has oil on it.

I INSTALLED A NEW COMPRESSOR AND DRYER AND CONVERTED MY 1984 F-150 TO 122. THE COMPRESSOR MAKE A NOISE WHEN INGAUGED AND KICKS IN AND OUT BUT SUPER COLD. WHAT SHOULD THE GAUGES READ WHEN CHARGES CORRECTLY?

the AC system needs to be evacuated again using vacume pump and recharged after applying oil to it. if the AC compressor still make noise then it needs to be replaced a long with the dryer .

I have a 2001 Yukon XL 1500. I broke an AC belt. I had the belt replaced and the system recharged. It now makes a noise when you accelerate after start up. But that is the only time. AC blows cold...

Actually, you both could be right. It may be the bearing inside the compressor. The compressor does not make the cold air,it helps pressurize the system to get the freon from the evaporator to the condenser. The evaporator provides the cold air.If you can, open your hood and have someone start your car.Have them give it some gas and see if you can pinpoint the noise more accurately. If your compressor bearing causes it to seize up,you will probably only get a couple of miles before your belt snaps.Another slight possibility is the tensioner. It's pretty rare but stranger things have happened.I did have a compressor seizure years ago and snapped a belt though. If you can pinpoint the noise it would help to know.If you can't I would like a better description of the noise though.Good luck! Do you have the defrost on when it is doing this? Turn it off and see if it goes away. I'm still thinking A/C compressor.

A/C quit blowing cold air after a loud squeeling noise stopped!

Look way down on the engine front area passenger side for the compressor.
Is the belt gone?
Check the belt tensioner pulley....can you turn it?....is it seized?
If it is OK then try and turn the compressor.......and the idler part of the compressor.
If the compressor is seized.....why?
Usually lack of oil in the system,or an overcharged system.

Once you have removed the 134a gas from the A/C system before removing the compressor and before installing the new compressor make sure you add the correct amount and type of oil into the system to prevent another seized compressor after you have flushed the system to remove contaminates such as old compressor grindings......if the compressor was seized.
You will also need a new receiver/dryer once you open the system to the moisture in the air.
Do not expose the new receiver/dryer to air....install last.
Vacuum the system well before refilling with the correct amount of 134a.
At 70 to 80 degrees outside temp........a vent temp at medium fan speed of 48 to 45 degrees should be a full charge .......use this reading if you do not have a electronic scale and/or A/C machine.
DO NOT OVERFILL THE SYSTEM.

2001 Chevy Suburban rear a/c warm front ice cold

I believe there is a expansion valve located on the back part of the air conditioner on the back right side i believe that could be the problem. I think if I am understanding you correctly, your back air is not as cool as it should be or not cold at all. Might want to check this. If I am not understanding you correctly please let me know again what your problem is.
