Next time it stops, just take the fuel cap off briefly, then see if it will restart.removing the cap, lets air in,in case the fuel tank is not being vented, creating a vacuum, when motor uses fuel.if that doesnt work, try another ignition coil

2000 Chev Tracker cuts off after running for a while. It does this at slow speed, like in traffic. Also, will not restart after running for a while. After about 15 minutes it will start.

I would change the fuel filter before anything else, however, a fuel filter would cause it to cut off no matter how fast you are driving.

Chevrolet tracker 2001 - started driving so that

Run a vacuum test. Start motor and try to rev a little. If the vacuum drops it could be a plugged cat or muffler, some type of exhaust restriction. Vacuum should pull steady at 15 to17 inches at idle. This is just one possibility.

My chevrolet tracker 99 starts and I drive for 10 min. Then when I stop the engine it doesn't start again unless Ihave my foot on the accelerater if I lift my foot it stops. I have to wait for 20 - 30 min....

Is there any services engine lights on.? it sounds as if it is flooding , it is also possible that the TPS. is faulty . the cheapest and best way to start is to have system scanned, for codes, that can be done for free at most Auto Zone part's stores,if you get more then just a simple code for the temp sensor , then you will need to have a more in depth testing , feel free to check back here for more info once ,you git codes. Thank you for using Fixya.

My 2001 Chevy Tracker quits running after a while and will restart after about 10-15 minutes. It originally runs rough after it restarts. I have been told to replace the camshaft sensor. Also, when I...

Had the same problem with my tracker. Replaced the camshaft position sensor(easy to do yourself, takes about five mins.) Now can drive at highway speeds for about a half hour and stop at the gas station and she'll start back up and run fine. Before i had to wait at least 15-20mins before she would start. Also, if your service engine soon light is on take it to the national chain auto parts stores and they will hook up the code reader for free. The sensor runs about $120.

Gets warm, when you cut it off it will not start back.

You are more than likely correct about the coil pack.  A lot of times, especially in warmer weather, this happens as coil packs start to go bad.  What happens, is as they start to fail, they get too hot and won't function properly so when you are waiting 20 to get the car started again it is giving it time to cool back down.  Take it to your local auto parts store and let them test it.  That should be your problem and will be an easy fix for you.  Good job with the diagnosis.  Thanks for rating my response and for using FixYa!

scrappy I hope you fixed your problemssince last post. Sorry to be gone for soooo long. Have you check your fuel tank? I had an old 1963 chevy that over the coarse of years that filled the bottom of the tank with dirt and what have you. It would run for 15-20 minutes and shut off. After it sat for about 10 minutes it would settle back to the bottom and I could drive again for 10=15 minutes. It drove me crazyuntil I had a radiator shop vat the fuel tank. Let me know if you fixed the problem....it has been a month since I last logged on....sorry.
