Check this two procedure for...

2.2L (VIN 4) Engine

  1. Properly discharge the air conditioning system into a recovery/recycling machine.
  2. Remove the drive belt on the vehicle.
  3. Remove the air cleaner and resonator assembly.
  4. Unplug the electrical connections from the compressor.
  5. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  6. Unfasten, then remove and cap the A/C hose from the compressor.
Cap the refrigerant lines when opening the system to prevent the entry of dirt and moisture and the loss of refrigerant lubricant.

The best I can tell u is that the smell is from a leak at the evaporator or connections. I advise to get another opinion because it sounds like a lot of guesswork. if u get the work done, make sure the work comes with a warrantee! I gave all my customers warrantees for 20 years. That's part of the diagnostic business! Good Luck If u don't get a warrantee ,don't get the diagnosis or work done

Can the ac compressor clutch on a 2006 dodge stratus be replaced without replacing the entire ac compressor?

i dont know of any domestic cars that dont have rebuildable/replaceable clutches on the compressor. best way to find out is to call a parts store and see if you can get the part.

bypassing the compressor is best to do. get a belt for your engine less the ac option. the removal and tear down of any compressor is not easy for a novice

Ac compressor has been change and charged with three can and the blower work but the compressor will not come on

mcdevito75 here, You may need even more freon in the system. If you know where the A/C clutch switch is you can jump it with a wire to get the compressor going to circulate the freon. Best bet let your local shop handl this job.

How to remove ac compressor for 1995 taurus 3.8L

You'll need to remove the belt. Unplug the compressor electrical connector. Remove any brackets holding the front of the compressor. Unbolt the four bolts that go thru the compressor, and disconnect the 2 lines. Probally best to do from underneath.

Ac not working

have u tested the ac compressor cycling switch located in the low side line from the compressor? also a common failure is the AC compressor cycling relay also known as the WOT (wide open throttle) relay Jumper a wire across the AC cycling switch in the low side line, if the compressor runs replace the switch, if not then replace the relay which in in the power distribution box under the hood.
