Oil light coming on usually indicates low oil pressure, your vehicle may have a safety device that shuts the engine down when the oil pressure drops to a dangerous level to protect the engine....hope this helps.....cheers

What does base circle area mean when doing a valve job ?

Base circle is the camshaft lower diameter where the lifter rides before the lobe starts to come into play.
The Lost Art of Valve Adjustment
Your second question depends entirely on the engine in question.
On a pushrod V8 the oil usually is metered by the valve lifters and goes to the rockers through hollow pushrods; a few drops of oil are released by the lifters during each valve stroke. Until full oil pressure and warm oil are in all of the oil passages, the oil to the rockers will be less than that of a warm running engine. The rockers really don't need huge quantities of oil, it is a lot harder to get oil to the valve stems.

You may want to make sure you have good oil pressure and the valves are properly adjusted [even on a hydraulic lifter system there are limits to how much the lifters will self adjust].

If you have an overhead cam engine, you will need lots of oil on the lifters and cams.

My Jaguar Xj8 I had placed engine seal accidently into the oil instead of the radiator

You NEVER in---- my world ---use any sealant in any vehicle
systems-- as it is there for life

It will stop up a heater core
It will stop up a radiator
It will not or seldom be a fix for a head gasket replacement
Get the idea

Don't know what to tell you

Did it shut down from lack of oil pressure to save the motor?

How your going to get that out of the bearings, cam actuators,
oil passages,oil pump,sensors

I think your in BIG Trouble & need to ask many shops what
success they have had with that issue

I say stay out of the parts store chemical isle, with the exception
of LUBEGARD for transmission & power steering additives

Those are ALL, I Repeat ALL, I use & they actually not only work
but are necessary in those two items only (i once owned a trans shop)
I use NO other brands,no Lucus,no genie in a bottle

Just Mobil 1 Oil & Lube Guard & make the proper diagnoses
to all vehicles & do the necessary & painful repairs

1994 ford crown Victoria my oil gage went out of control, radio stoped working my engine keeps cutting off what the problem

The oil pressure gauge could be causing the engine to stop running. It could be a wiring problem in the harness going to the instrument cluster.

Speedometer stoped working, just replaced the censer & did a trans. service

There is also a cam shaft speed sensor change it and then see. Most other devices require the input of the pulses from this sensor in order to work. Lets face it if the engine (acording to the cam speed sensor) is not running why alow the speedometer to register

The oil light starts to flash when stopped.

Your oil pressure naturaly drops when the engine is reving slow ( stoped ) , the oil pressure sender unit sends power to the oil light when the pressure drops below a preset value.
EITHER the oil pressure sender unit is faulty ( a common occurance ) , or you actualy have unusualy low oil pressure which could be caused by several different problems.
I would suggest replacing the sensor , it it still happens , you have a more serious problem.

Cam sensor misfire

If the mechanic pulled a code for a cam sensor, it is very possible that as it gets hot, the cam sensor starts to produce a degraded signal and the engine progressively runs worse. I'd replace the cam sensor without hesitation. The trip to the dealership will cost more than taking an educated shot at the cam sensor.
