Hi, did you mean when you said you jumped it that you pushed the car with ignition on and in gear but it still wont start.

if that is what you have done then the problem you are having is with the immobiliser now if your keys have a seperate fob for opening and closing the remote locking then the chances are this is where the fault lies, one thing you can try is when you put the key in the ignition try placing the fob as close as you can to the ignition just where you put the key in get it as close as you can then try starting the car, sometimes this will work and will get you out of trouble.

now if it dont start and you do have the fob type control then your going to need to take the fob to the main dealers with the owners documents and they will then re-program the fob for you, the chances are the battery is low and it just needs re-programming, this can only be done at the main dealers and they will charge for this but their is no other way of getting this done, if the car did start the way i told you then the chances are its just the battery in the fob that needs replacing getting this done should solve your problem.

Now if you car only has the key and not the one with the remote fob then the chances are the key will need re-programming as it will have a glass chip inside it like an RFID chip, now these do play up from time to time and sometimes the key will need replacing.

How ever the bad news is all these problems have to be taken care of at the main dealers as they dont authorize any where else to do thes jobs due to security reasons so the best thing for you to do is give the main dealers a call and ask them about the problem and explain the type of key you have, they will then give you the price and tell you where to take the key.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

'I disconnected the car battery/changed the car battery and now my car won't start'

Another common question on Fixya.
You've done nothing wrong. It's simply that the immobiliser doesn't recognise the key.

Put the key into the ignition. Turn the ignition on. Press the LOCK button twice on your remote. Wait 1 minute.

Turn the ignition off and press the UNLOCK button on the remote a couple of times. This will disarm the immobiliser.

The key should be recognised and your vehicle will start.

Car immobilisor

you might be able to reprogram the key, but you can only do this if you have two keys, what you need to do is put one key in the ignition turn the ignition on ( not over ) put the key that needs reprogramming into the drivers door and lock the vehicle with the key not the button, wait 10 seconds, remove the key, then press the unlock on the fobb, turn ignition off, remove key from ignition, put in the key that you just unlocked the car with and turn ignition do not turn over, turn off ignition, remove key wait 10 seconds, then put key back in then you should be able to turn it over as normal, if that does not work you will have to take key to be reprogramed at the main dealer...hope this helps

2002 Pontiac Grand prix wont start; unable to remove key

On many cars, if the battery is dead, it locks the key in the ignition. Put a battery charger on the car or replace the battery and give it a shot.

Good luck.

Program a remote key for 03 A6

I have an A4 and did this to re-program my key:

1. used the key to start the car...then turned it off
2. put the key in the driver door (door closed)
3. pressed the lock button on the key fob once
4. turned the key to lock the door.

This is basically the steps in the owners manual, but the car must be started with the key first, and the key must be in the door lock before pressing the lock button.
