1996 blazer battery draining

I have a 1996 blazer and the battery works with a jumpstart and i can start the car right away. but it will lose the charge overnight. the light on the inside of the car would never go out so i took the light bulb out of it, im not sure if the power still goes there or not. the alternator was checked and it works fine and its a new battery.

I had this problem on my 96 blazer, it turned out to be the timer that turns off the interior lights after 15 seconds, it would turn off the lights but not all the way, it would sit and drain the battery.. an easy way to test for an open circuit yourself:

  • Connect one end of the test light to the negative terminal of the battery, and the other end of the test light to the end of the negative battery cable, so that the light is now "inserted" into the circuit between the cable and the battery.
  • Step 3 Check the intensity of the test light. A faint glow is normal and indicative of the small current used to power the cars computer and clock. A bright glow means you have a significant battery drain that needs to be repaired.
  • Step 4 Leave the test light in place, and begin to remove fuses one at a time from the fuse panel. Check the test light after you remove each one. If the light is on, replace the fuse and move on to the next one.
  • Step 5 Pinpoint the circuit that is causing the battery drain when you pull a fuse and the test light goes out.

Use amp meter between battery ground and disconnected wire to read drain. Next, pull one fuse at a time to see which circuit has the drain, and also try feeling the top of all relays to see if one is warm even thou everything is turned off. Stuck relay is common issue. If you find a fuse that stops the drain, troubleshoot that circuit to find fault. Think of things such as glove box door latch misadjusted that might make light stay on.

    Battery loses power over night

You have a parasitic drain. There are procedures online to check this with a multimeter if you wish to do it yourself. Basically involves pulling fuses out one by one and see if there's a voltage running through them while the car is off.

You "CoULD" have a fault battery. Best to take it to shop like Autozone and have them test it for free also.

Sounds like fuel filters to me.
You might want to check Mercedes enthusiast site peachparts.com for help
from thousands of Mercedes owners who work on their own cars.
But as I said sounds like fuel filters.

    HI..
If you check the connection of the battery .
if you hear a cliking noise. and lights inside weak.
Is mean the battery is descharged or not good.
Try giving jumpstart cables. or with other battery.
Really I guess is a battery problem.
If the vehicle start. check if the Alternator is Charging.

I hope this could be a good point to start your diagnostic.

    I hope work for you.
