Question about 1994 Toyota Corolla

Exclamation mark light coming on intermittently

Toyota Corolla XLi, 1994. 130,000 miles. Brake fluid level just on minimum. My mechanic is on holiday, can it wait two weeks?

Have had a clear fluid drip from mid-car, nearside, showing when parked on slope but not on flat ground. Sometimes slight petrol smell when leaving car.

Thank you.

I don't think you should take a chance and drive your car like that cause your brake pedal can go to the floor causing you to have no brakes and possibly get in to an accident.if there is fluid leaking from the middle of the car, then it must be the rear brake line which runs under the car on the drivers side all the way to the back wheels.this is a metal line,so it's most likely rusted out and needs to be replaced ASAP.i replaced the one on my 93 corolla which was leaking right where you say yours is leaking from.JUST REMEMBER,REPLACE THIS LINE FIRST,THEN BLEED THE BRAKES.DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE IT LIKE THAT BECAUSE YOU WILL HAVE NO BRAKES AS SOON AS THE LITTLE BIT OF BRAKE FLUID THAT IS LEFT,RUNS OUT.I HOPE THIS INFORMATION HELPS. TAKE CARE AND GOOD LUCK, MANNY

Light staying on - next to check engine light - it is an exclamation point surrounded by what look like parentheses.

Check your brake fluid level - this light comes on when the brake fluid level has dropped below the minimum level. Usually its because of a leak in the seals of the brake cylinder. Look for oily substance at the inner side of the 4 rims.

Also brake pads can be worn down below the minimum causing brake fluid level to drop below the minimum level.

In any case - make sure the cause of the warning light is known before driving any further.

What type of brake fluid should you put in a 1990 Toyota Corolla hatchback? DOT 3 or DOT 4?

either is fine, they are compatable. your car calls for DOT 3 as minimum level, DOT 4 is slightly higher quality.

Hi there, my car is 2002 fiat punto. when i hit the brake, there is a light sign coming on the dash board, which is a shape of light ball with a exclamatory mark in the middle, just wonder what problem is...

As per the manual this problem of Red circle with exclamation mark on car dash board belongs to problem in brake system.this is the indication to check the brake system. In the Fiat punto cars service manual it says as follows:-- Malfunction of the brake system.
Check break fluid, if that's not the problem
visit the dealer.
When it come up together with ABS light the ABS system needs to be checked.
--------------- Most probably this problem is due to low brake fluid.BUT if the problem is same after filling the brake fluid then the brake system wiring needs to be checked.its wiring's are getting short somewhere. Thanks. you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

Location of the emergency rear brake switch n a

Hello. I assume that you want to know the location of the switch that activates the brake light on the dash when the park brake lever is pulled. It is under the rear of the park brake handle; you need to remove the console to see it.

However...if your brake light in your dash is staying ON, I would first suggest that you look at the level of brake fluid in the master cylinder reservoir. If it is low, the light will come on, also. The fluid level in the master cylinder drops proportionally as the brake wear. I would bet that your fluid is low; about an ounce of fluid decrease will light up the brake light.

My Brake Light on My dashboard is coming on when I brake, but the fluid is above the minimum level, and I had my brakes looked at less than a year ago. the dashboard brake light comes on intermittently...

You hava very common issue.
The brake fluid contracts when it is cold. The level may be "above the minimum", but being there allows the sensor to activate when it is cold, due to the contraction aspect of the brake fluid...
Add 1 ounce of brake fluid, and you problem will disappear.
A FixYa rating for my assistance would be greatly appreciated.
