If your timing belt breaks some of the valves will stay open and the pistons will come up and either break the valve or could put a hole in a piston. This is very costly. The rattle could be the belt tensioner

there not that hard to fix the hardest part is getting the door panel off the rest is easy if yo buy the window regulator you will see how simple it is and iam not being cocky they take about an hour to change the price hike up is on the part they buy them for 150 and sell them for 350 just take your time

there is a diode in the alternator which stops the battery from discharging back through the alt:windings, this can go open circuit,which is probably the problem
