This is for the 6 Cylinder Grand Cherokee by Jeep:

LEVEL CHECK Fig. 1: Remove the automatic transmission dipstick how do I add transmission - 86741p23.jpg
Fig. 2: Automatic transmission fluid level dipstick readings 91071p18.jpg
The fluid level in automatic transmissions is checked with a dipstick located in the filler pipe at the right rear of the engine. The fluid level should be maintained between the ADD and FULL marks on the end of the dipstick, with the automatic transmission fluid at normal operating temperature. To raise the level from the ADD mark to the FULL mark requires the addition of one pint of fluid. The fluid level with the fluid at room temperature (75°F or 24°C) should be approximately 4 1⁄4 in. (10.8cm) below the ADD mark. NOTE: In checking the automatic transmission fluid, insert the dipstick in the filler tube with the markings toward the center of the truck. Also, remember that the FULL mark on the dipstick is the indication of the level of the automatic transmission fluid when it is at operating temperature. This temperature is only obtained after at least 15 miles of expressway driving or the equivalent of city driving. To check the automatic transmission fluid level, follow the procedure given below. This procedure is applicable either when the fluid is at room temperature or at operating temperature.

  1. With the transmission in Park, the engine running at idle speed, the foot brake applied and the vehicle resting on level ground, move the transmission gear selector through each of the gear positions, including Reverse, allowing time for the transmission to engage.
  2. Return the shift selector to the Park position and apply the parking brake. Do not turn the engine off, but leave it running at idle speed.
  3. Clean all dirt from around the transmission dipstick cap and the end of the filler tube.
  4. Pull the dipstick out of the tube, wipe it off with a clean cloth, and push it back into the tube all the way, making sure that it seats completely.
  5. Pull the dipstick out of the tube again and read the level of the fluid.
  6. The level should be between the ADD and FULL marks. Do not overfill the transmission because this will cause foaming, loss of fluid through the vent and malfunctioning of the transmission. NOTE: Transmission fluid should be light red and free of foreign material. If the fluid is dark brown or black in color and smells burnt, the fluid has been overheated and should be replaced. Look for the dipstick where you check the transmision fluid level. If you need any you pour it down the dipstick hole. Add it in small amounts and check in between additions, its really easy to overfill. Once overfilled a real pain to get it out.

How do you add transmission fluid to a 94 jeep grand cherokee?

Start the car.Warm it up by taking it for a drive.Pull up and select all the gears and finish in neutral. Now check the the tranny fluid from the dipstick. If it needs adding,it is to be put down the dipstick tube.Thats why most tran fluid bottles have the small pullout tube in them.It does not flow in very quickly so be patient.Hope this helps

My 1999 jeep grand cherokee sometimes shifts wrong

check to see if your fluid is low or burnt. if it is low then just add enough to cover the fill mark on the dipstick. if it is burnt, remove the transmission pan and filter and replace the filter. then add new transmission fluid.

!995 jeep gr cherk. transmission fluid. add hot

Its best to add while all is hot..
Leave it runing in park while adding fluid..
Put a little at a time and keep checking being careful not to over fill..
The dipstick mesures in pints - not quarts..

Rate well ;o)
